I am convinced that the future belongs to non-violence, to the reconciliation of different cultures. It is through this path that humanity will have to take its next step. <\/em> - <\/em>St\u00e9phane Hessel<\/p>\n\n

An organization is nothing without the people who make it up. To grow, spread its wings, and find its place, Doctors of the World needed, 14 years ago, a young, committed psychiatrist driven by the conviction that improving the human condition also required more humanity, beyond care.<\/p>\n

Having become president in 2006, Dr. Bergeron set about building the foundations of Doctors of the World to create a home in its image. Rigorous, critical, outraged, fiery, energetic, and empathetic, he contributed to the implementation of numerous projects and actions. His involvement was sometimes flamboyant, but often discreet, whether offering a mental health consultation or leveraging his networks for the benefit of a Doctors of the World patient.<\/p>\n

Moreover, in addition to his sustained commitment to Doctors of the World Canada, Dr. Bergeron was a key player in the design and construction of the international Doctors of the World network, made up of 16 delegations. Thanks to his self-deprecating humor, his ability to think outside the box, and his power of conviction, he more than once succeeded in rallying other Doctors of the World delegations around the idea of a shared vision.<\/p>\n

What we will miss the most is his kindness, his attention to detail, the elegance of his words, and his desire to discuss and exchange in an open atmosphere, without any judgment.<\/p>\n
