To celebrate our 25th anniversary, we have decided to organize a series of virtual debates for you on issues related to health and social change. These online events are free and open to everyone.

Theme<\/h2>\n

As part of its 25th anniversary, M\u00e9decins du Monde Canada invites you to an online roundtable to better understand how pandemics and health crises can inspire a more sustainable health system, adapted to the needs of populations experiencing marginality and social exclusion.<\/p>\n

The compounded impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on marginalized populations underscores the importance of creating accessible health systems by involving the affected populations, as well as civil society organizations, in the design and implementation of prevention and pandemic response strategies.<\/p>\n

Humanitarian organizations have driven agile, responsive, and inclusive approaches in response to pandemics such as HIV\/AIDS, Ebola, cholera, and COVID-19. M\u00e9decins du Monde has also implemented a community-based and outreach approach to better reach marginalized populations and support them in the recognition of their rights, both locally and internationally.<\/p>\n

What lessons have we learned from managing recent major health crises? What have we learned that should be part of the response to pandemics like COVID-19? What health approaches could bring about real social change?<\/p>\n

For 25 years, we have contributed to social change<\/h2>\n

For 25 years, M\u00e9decins du Monde Canada has met with people experiencing great vulnerability, marginality, or social exclusion where they are, without judgment.<\/p>\n

From our first international missions in 1996 in Haiti, in the municipality of L\u00e9og\u00e2ne, where our practices aimed at strengthening local capacities<\/strong>, to the start of our national actions in 1999 with our outreach nursing program<\/strong>, and still today with our mental health support program<\/strong> for people experiencing homelessness and community workers, we actively contribute to social change.<\/strong><\/p>\n

We know that our mission to provide and promote access to health<\/strong> only has an impact if it aims for structural changes.<\/strong><\/p>\n
