These online events are free and open to everyone.

Theme

For several months, Haiti has been severely affected by sociopolitical instability and the repercussions of a violent earthquake that occurred on August 14. This context makes access to health care extremely difficult, particularly for populations living in marginalized neighborhoods and regions far from health services.

Médecins du Monde Canada has been working daily with local actors in Haiti since 1996 to build a bridge between communities and health institutions in order to strengthen health services. All this work is done directly within the most excluded communities, in collaboration with community health workers, women's groups, community leaders, and grassroots community organizations.

This approach promotes community awareness and mobilization, investment in primary care providers, empowerment, the fight against stigmatization, and the rejection of the hierarchization of knowledge.

As part of its 25th anniversary, Médecins du Monde Canada invites you to join the discussion on the importance of the community-based approach to health in a humanitarian crisis context like the one currently affecting Haiti.

Register

The panelists

Nicolas Demers-Labrousse

General Coordinator of Médecins du Monde Canada in Haiti

Dr. Shelley-Rose Hyppolite

Member of the Board of Directors of Médecins du Monde Canada and public health and preventive medicine specialist at the Public Health Department of the Integrated University Health and Social Services Centres of the Capitale-Nationale

Biography

<img src="/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/Miss-Flore.jpeg" alt="Marie Flaure G.
