Faced with the largest movement of displaced persons and refugees since the Second World War, Ukraine and neighboring host countries have had to find immediate responses to the resulting humanitarian needs. M\u00e9decins du Monde is present to support them in this process and provide care and assistance wh<\/strong>enever necessary.<\/p>\n

In Ukraine, millions of people are deprived of essential services. The disruption of the healthcare system, the destruction of pharmacies and hospital facilities, significant shortages of healthcare personnel and supplies, and the isolation of communities are all factors that deeply affect those impacted by the conflict.<\/p>\n

Although the Ukrainian healthcare system has shown great resilience, it cannot ensure routine check-ups, vaccinations, and care for people with chronic illnesses. The risk of deteriorating mental health is increasing as traumatic events persist.<\/p>\n

M\u00e9decins du Monde collaborates with various partners to address the most urgent humanitarian needs. We provide access to essential medicines and medical equipment, in addition to ensuring care and psychosocial support in isolated regions.<\/p>\n

The health impact of this war extends beyond Ukraine's borders.<\/h2>\n

17.7 million people have left Ukraine since February 24, 2022. This war is putting a strain on support and health systems to cope with the massive influx of refugees. Active in neighboring countries such as Poland, Slovakia, Romania, and Moldova, M\u00e9decins du Monde supports access to primary health care services, mitigating various barriers. We are mobilized to provide healthcare and psychological support to refugees, in collaboration with national and regional health authorities and civil society organizations.<\/p>\n
