Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights \u2013 SRHR<\/strong> address fundamental aspects of a person\u2019s life: their body, sexuality, health, emotional and sexual relationships, and choice of parenthood. As essential human rights, sexual and reproductive rights<\/strong> aim to promote an autonomous life, a sexuality that is free and consensual, without violence or discrimination. They are a crucial condition for progress toward gender equality<\/strong> and the development of a more equitable and just society.<\/p>\n Thus, access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights \u2013 SRHR<\/strong> is one of our main struggles, whether here in Quebec or internationally. Our activism is reflected in our daily actions and is part of a broader intersectional<\/strong> feminist vision that we uphold.<\/p>\n The Dari\u00e9n is a forest spanning over 100 km, located between Colombia and Panama. Every year, it is crossed by many people, including women, in the hope of a better life in North America.<\/p>\n Present at the Las Tecas camp, the M\u00e9decins du Monde medical team works to prevent gender-based violence<\/strong> through various concrete actions.<\/p>\n To learn more about our actions in the Dari\u00e9n, read the article:<\/p>\n Crossing the Dari\u00e9n: What is the reality for migrant women?<\/a><\/p>\n In Benin, Burkina Faso, and Haiti, at least 30% of the population is aged 10 to 24, while the human development indices of these countries are among the lowest in the world.<\/p>\n In 2021, M\u00e9decins du Monde, in partnership with the Government of Canada, launched the RESPECT project<\/a>. The project aims to promote safe sexual health<\/strong> and reproductive health<\/strong> that is a source of pleasure, by removing legislative, structural, social, cultural, and economic barriers to access.<\/p>\n RESPECT Project<\/a><\/p>\n Today, some women living in Quebec do not have access to the essential health services that every woman needs. We see this every day at our clinic for migrants with precarious status<\/a>.<\/p>\n However, being deprived of essential sexual and reproductive health<\/strong> services has individual and collective consequences.
