It was no surprise, then, when he added that his favourite intervention tool was humour. His eyes sparkle as he elaborates: \u201claughter is also care<\/em>.\u201d Farin, a peer support worker<\/strong> in harm reduction<\/strong>, does not disagree: \u201csitting with people makes us familiar and trustworthy<\/em>.\u201d Farin works in M\u00e9decins du Monde\u2019s mobile clinic alongside Andr\u00e9anne, a nurse. Their duo places trust at the heart of their practice, which includes \u201ccaring about the person\u2019s circle<\/em>,\u201d as Andr\u00e9anne tells us. \u201cWhen<\/em> Farin talks with friends of the person he is supporting, he always asks: and you, how are you? how are you experiencing all of this?\u201d<\/p>\n The circle remains a relay too often overlooked in the modern approach to health<\/strong>: \u201ccare<\/em> is not just about providing a solution to a problem, it is about taking into account everything around it,\u201d explains Mathieu. He sums it up: \u201ca healthy person is a healthy community<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n Through the interviews, it quickly becomes clear that \u201cthe community<\/em>\u201d also refers to all the health<\/strong> professionals with whom Farin, Mathieu, Andr\u00e9anne and others collaborate. In the hospital, for example, these are \u201cthe doctors and nurses we educate about the person\u2019s reality, their perception of institutions<\/em>,\u201d as Farin describes. Juliette, who supervises M\u00e9decins du Monde\u2019s outreach<\/strong> team, extends the ties that weave this community to include workers focusing on a \u201cmore<\/em> social aspect: a roof, food, advocacy\u2026: this support is also part of care.\u201d<\/p>\n And if care were first and foremost a bond? A bond of trust built through laughter, listening, time spent together, and kind collaboration\u2026 A bond that helps break down barriers to care without judgment.<\/p>\n\u201cSitting with the world makes us familiar and trustworthy.\u201d<\/h2>\n
