Precariousness
and exclusion.

Doctors of the World bears witness to profound inequalities in access to health for communities and individuals experiencing precariousness and economic and social exclusion. We contribute to reducing the stigmatization of excluded individuals and health and social service systems, and to promoting their empowerment.

Our Position

Precariousness should never be an obstacle to care.

Access to healthcare remains profoundly unequal for people experiencing precariousness and social exclusion. Doctors of the World Canada is committed to combating frameworks that stigmatize and criminalize excluded individuals, so that they can fully exercise their fundamental rights and equitably access public health and social service systems.

By focusing on empowerment, civic participation, and a community-based outreach approach to health, our organization works with the most vulnerable communities to reduce inequalities in access to care and promote their ability to influence decisions that affect their health.
