Sexual and reproductive autonomy

We contribute to influencing policies and improving practices that guarantee bodily, sexual, and reproductive autonomy for women, girls, and people of diverse sexual orientations, sex characteristics, gender identities, and gender expressions, with a focus on access to safe and legal abortion.

Our position

Deciding about one's body is a right, not a privilege.

The right to bodily, sexual, and reproductive autonomy is still threatened today for many people, particularly women, girls, and people of diverse sexual orientations, sex characteristics, gender identities, and gender expressions (OCSIEG).

From an intersectional feminist and social justice perspective, Doctors of the World Canada advocates for expanded access to safe and legal abortion, comprehensive sexuality education, and sexual and reproductive health services. We also support the demedicalization of care, self-care in sexual health, and the co-responsibility of men and boys in these issues.
