COVID-19: Report on Our Actions

COVID-19: Report on Our Actions

The COVID-19 pandemic spares no one, and we are not all equal in the face of this health crisis, but we all certainly have a role to play in limiting its impact.

Médecins du Monde’s role is to treat and protect people whom health systems fail to reach, whatever the reason. While public health is indeed a top priority, healthcare should be accessible to everyone, without exclusion: it is a fundamental right.

We are very proud to present Médecins du Monde’s actions during COVID-19.

Our Actions to Combat the COVID-19 Pandemic Internationally

In Haiti, COVID-19 represents an additional challenge for the Haitian population living in a context where socio-economic conditions and the health system are already weakened.

Every day, community leaders and health workers go into the field to raise awareness among families about virus prevention measures and continue to provide services to communities that do not have access to healthcare. Our team also supports institutions by providing them with resources and protective equipment.

Other challenges for maternal and child health persist and will even worsen with COVID-19, which is why Médecins du Monde is implementing all necessary measures to maintain its activities with communities.

COVID-19 poses a devastating threat to many of the world’s poorest countries, which are particularly affected. The crisis is not only straining the health capacities of states but is also turning into a political, social, environmental, and economic crisis.

To date, Médecins du Monde has implemented COVID-19 response programs in 67 countries and is thus present on every continent. It is essential for our teams deployed worldwide to intensify and consolidate the response through a comprehensive approach while continuing to analyze risks tailored to each country of intervention.
