What Are the Responsibilities of Service Providers?
Thursday, September 14, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Maison du Développement Durable, Montreal
The conference will be followed by the annual general meeting of Médecins du Monde Canada from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Theme
Every year around the world, 121 million women become pregnant unintentionally, and 60% of them terminate their pregnancy.
Although the World Health Organization considers VTP an essential health service, 45% of abortions performed worldwide are not medically supervised, resulting in the death of 39,000 women each year, not to mention the 7 million others hospitalized due to complications.
The lack of access to safe abortion is therefore a real public health issue. The causes include restrictive laws that limit, condition, or even criminalize access to this health service, as well as the lack of adapted, accessible, and quality services, or persistent and stigmatizing prejudices.
Faced with this public health crisis, what is the responsibility of healthcare personnel?
