The situation in Gaza was already disastrous. Due to the total siege imposed by the Israeli authorities over two weeks ago, the entry of humanitarian aid into the enclave is completely blocked. The resumption of indiscriminate bombings and forced displacement orders has worsened the humanitarian crisis. The population is once again forced to endure a cycle of recurring displacements that has lasted for a year and a half.
The resumption of indiscriminate bombings by the Israeli authorities is unacceptable.
The Gazan population and aid workers are plunged into an endless nightmare. The international community must act in the face of the manipulation of humanitarian aid as a tool of political pressure. We call on third-party states to act without further delay.
After months of destruction and suffering, the Palestinian population cannot endure further massacres, mutilations of civilians, forced displacements, and the destruction of essential infrastructure. The resumption of bombings also threatens the lives of hostages. The ceasefire agreement was an opportunity to address this suffering and rebuild the health system after its deliberate destruction by the Israeli authorities.
Médecins du Monde urgently appeals to international leaders. They must assume their responsibilities and exert political pressure on the Israeli authorities to ensure compliance with international humanitarian law. Indiscriminate bombings must cease, the delivery of humanitarian aid must be guaranteed, and a permanent ceasefire must be established without delay.
