Launch of the Indigenous Health Outreach Clinic in Montreal: Culturally safe care for First Nations, Metis and Inuit

An accessible Indigenous health clinic in the heart of Montreal

Projets Autochtones du Québec (PAQ) and Doctors of the World Canada (MdM) announce the official launch of the Indigenous Health Outreach Clinic on November 6, 2025. Located at 169 rue de la Gauchetière Est in Montreal (Tiohtià:ke), this community clinic provides culturally safe care to First Nations, Metis and Inuit people in urban settings, particularly those experiencing homelessness or at risk.

Holistic care and culturally adapted approach

The clinic offers accessible, respectful health services rooted in Indigenous cultural and spiritual realities. A primary care nurse practitioner (IPS-PL) coordinates care in collaboration with a team of Indigenous navigators who support individuals in their healing journey.

“PAQ is honored to partner with Doctors of the World to provide a care space rooted in respect for Indigenous cultures and knowledge. This partnership strengthens our mission to support Indigenous people experiencing homelessness on their path to healing and self-determination.” Stacy Boucher-Anthony, Executive Director of Projets Autochtones du Québec (PAQ)

Services offered by the Indigenous clinic

  • Culturally safe primary medical care
  • Adapted psychosocial support
  • Navigation to mental health services
  • Personalized legal and social support
  • Holistic approach respecting Indigenous knowledge

Addressing the needs of Indigenous women who are survivors of violence

The clinic prioritizes Indigenous women who are survivors of or at risk of domestic and family violence, who face stigmatization and systemic racism in Quebec’s health care system. This initiative is part of the fight against gender-based violence and aims to rebuild trust in health institutions.

“This clinic represents a concrete step toward reclaiming care and dignity. By offering a safe and respectful space where marginalized people are, it allows Indigenous people to receive care adapted to their realities while acknowledging the intergenerational wounds left by colonization.” Pénélope Boudreault, Clinical Nurse and Director of National Operations, Doctors of the World Canada

A project supported by committed partners

This initiative is financially supported by the Secrétariat à la condition féminine du Québec and The Pathy Family Foundation. It represents a significant advancement in access to health care for urban Indigenous communities in Quebec.
